It was a perfect location for us to spend real quality time together after so many months apart. We were able to use all the amazing facilities and were made to feel very welcome by the hosts. We would highly recommend this gite to anyone.

We booked this as a fishing holiday but the first thing we noticed was how clean the whole house was. It was a pleasure NOT to have to clean ‘sticky’ cutlery, crockery and furnishings - Gill & Ian should be proud of themselves ! It was a perfect setting for a family - the pool, sauna, hot tub, etc were in perfect condition and absolutely clean. The walk round the lake was a pleasure - beautiful setting. We fished the lake every day (and most nights) with good success- big carp are not the easiest to catch but we all felt we did well with 33 carp landed between us (we were 3 anglers plus one cook & bottle-washer). If Gill & Ian maintain this high standard, I would be amazed if anyone stays and does not enjoy the experience. Good luck to them for the future - we will be looking to book a return visit, hopefully in 2023 (and again in 2024 !!!!!).

Had a fantastic time. Something for everyone. Kids loves the swimming pool and the tree house. They enjoyed feeding the animals. Had a go at zip wire and archary. The men really enjoyed the fishing, caught Carp so they were very happy. Had bbq every night. Ian and Gill were fantastic hosts. Full of knowledge. Most helpful. Enjoyed it so much arranged to go again next year before leaving. House has everything you need. Never had the TV on all week. Would definitely recommend it. Had a great time

What an amazing beautiful place, we enjoyed our time here so much, Gill and Ian are so helpful and as for the fishing its bang on managed to fish for a few hours each day after spending great time with family and had some good catches resulting in a
41lb mirror, 32lb mirror, 2x 28lb common and 2 smaller common
Would definitely recommend this place for families and fishermen it's got everything you need its clean tidy loads of activities, pool, hot tub, sauna, and real good fishing so if your looking for a nice family break and want a bend in your rod get down there

Great holiday for fishing or family and great for both. Lovely area and stunning views. Plenty of space for 7 of us. 3 year old grand daughter loved the animals and having pool to herself. Some big carp caught by the boys. Everyone loved the archery and wished they hadn't left till last day! Would maybe hire a car next time as roads quiet. Thanks to Gill and Ian for airport lifts and supermarket runs. Would highly recommend.

What an absolute sanctuary! Our second visit to Lac de la grange and it’s even more fantastic than before. The gite is perfect for a big group, spacious enough to fit everyone in yet still has a wonderful cosy feeling about it. There is so much space for the kids to explore. A great place for anyone who enjoys fishing, but equally as good going for walks around the lake and enjoying the surrounding. Finished off with lovely evenings in front of the fire. Ian and Gill are amazing hosts and have a gorgeous home. Thank you so much for all your effort into making our stay such a great one.

Stunning scenery, fun for all ages, animals, zip wire, adventure tree house, swimming pool, fishing lake, an all round perfect relaxing retreat. The accommodation was equally stunning with everything you need. We couldn’t recommend Gill and Ian highly enough, so friendly and welcoming. We can’t wait to go back!

We had a great time at Lac de la Grange! We enjoyed fishing, swimming, archery, BBQs, stargazing and relaxing in the sunshine, getting to know all the chickens, ducks, sheep and rabbits! A beautiful, peaceful place near a lovely village Rochechouart where there is a convenient patisserie, a couple of restaurants and an intermarche. The gite was a great size and easily accommodated the 9 of us. Gill and Ian were lovely and welcoming and generous with their time and recommendations. We’d happily go back.

Such a relaxing place. We had the best time. Able to spend quality time together in beautiful surroundings. Gill and Ian are very friendly and available to help when required but also blend into the background when not. I loved the coypu ( I named them Bernard and Bernice) that would swim across the lake. Thank you Gill and Ian for a lovely week at your gite and all your help, we had a very relaxing time. The boys enjoyed the fishing in your beautiful lake, with the youngest catching the largest carp at 29lb. Even though the weather was very mixed we were still able to use all the facilities. We loved the table tennis, relaxing in the outdoor seating area and sitting in the hot tub. We enjoyed kayaking in Confolens and visiting the local area. We all had a great holiday!

Many thanks for our week at your gite, it was thoroughly enjoyed by all. The facilities were superb and we were well looked after! The fishing was very good, we managed to eek out some lumps but as ever its the ones that got away that caused the biggest conversation. The fish were in pristine condition, a true refection on how well the lake and stock are managed. Thanks again!

We spent a week here at the end of June with friends and had a very relaxing and enjoyable week, husbands fishing and girls relaxing at the the pool and hot tub. The gite is large, clean and very comfortable with everything you need for a self catering holiday. Lovely peaceful setting with good restaurants and local amenities just a short drive away. Gill and Ian could not be more helpful. Looking forward to returning in July 2018 for another week of total chill out.

Heaven on earth
Great place to stay. 4 spacious bedrooms, large living area, well equipped kitchen, TV, DV, wifi, heated pool & hot tub, chill out area with BBQ. Large fishing lake with carp over 40lb hire tackle or take your own, bait for sale on site. Gillian and Ian on hand to give advice and tips where to go and eat in the many excellent nearby restaurants, supermarkets handy. Lovely part of France We will go back soon please have a look at the website and get booked in!!

We have just arrived home after a wonderful, relaxing week at Lac de la Grange.
The gite was gorgeous, tastefully decorated and was really well equipped ... The owners (Gill and Ian) even provided a travel cot for our 6 month old grandson. It had everything we needed and more.
The grounds and the lake are stunning. My husband is a keen angler and spent many happy hours at the lake and caught a good number of doubles over the week, the fish were well looked after and were in a beautiful condition.
The rest of us were able to relax and explore the grounds and made good use of the pool, hot tub and games provided. It was also a great base to explore the local towns and attractions from.
Thank you Gill and Ian for a wonderful week, you have the most idyllic property and we cannot wait to come back.

I can’t recommend this property highly enough, for any family looking for a break to get away from it all and spend quality time together in picturesque and peaceful surroundings. The property itself is immaculate and catered for the needs of the group and in particular my toddler. Gill and Ian are very welcoming and attentive to any ask that we had. It was like home from home, the beds are amazing and waking up to a view over the beautiful lake was such a delight. The grounds are superb, some huge open spaces giving the kids plenty of freedom, as well as some more secluded areas. The lake is footsteps from the barn and had a great time walking around it with a very inquisitive two year old taking in all the wonderful things that nature provides. The local town is very traditional with some beautiful architecture, an idyllic place to stop and enjoy the delicious treats that the patisseries have to offer. All round the facilities and property are superb, a wonderful and relaxing break was had by all.

I have just spent the weekend at Lac de la Grange, what a beautiful setting, the owners were very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. I have to say how comfortable and clean the Gite was.
During the day we were fortunate to have lovely weather for a couple of walks and then we just relaxed in the sun.

We are just back from a week's stay in 'les batiments' and must say a big thank you for the wonderful genuine people, the owners of the property, they have made us and our little ones very welcome.
The property was amazing, very clean and spacious and our little ones have a wonderful time in the pool, we all had great time fishing and walking around the land that comes with the property.
For ramblers and nature lovers, we recommend 'les sentiers de la feutriere' walk which is near 'site Corot' in St Junien, simply amazing!

WOW !!!
I can't think of a word better to describe this place !!!
After trawling the internet looking for a place that would suit three generations i stumbled on this beautiful place.....
Having a grown son and his dad who wanted to fish, a disabled 86 year old mum who wanted a taste of France, and myself who wanted to relax and read my books with a glass of wine, we was lucky to have found this place.
Nothing to much trouble for the hosts!
We loved the gite, its so large and airy and beautiful inside. the log fire is a dream.
The men had a great time fishing, we toured round the area and was able to leave the fishing gear out and set up ready to just walk up to on return
Mum had a fab time and the disabled room was fantastic with every thing she needed,
you can eat alfresco under cover right outside the door, or laze in the Jacuzzi and have a family party at the outside eating area, even a BBQ!!!!

My husband and I recently stayed at the gite for a romantic Valentine's getaway. The gite is beautiful and the facilities are brilliant. The surrounding area is wonderful and the perfect place for couples, be it just a relaxing stroll around the lake or a long walk in the local countryside. There are some amazing restaurants close by offering fabulous food and wine, at very reasonable prices. We would have no hesitation in recommending 'Les Batiments' as the perfect romantic retreat.

We found Les Batiments excellent . There was plenty of space and the accommodation was clean, fresh and comfortable. The kitchen was fully fitted with all new appliances. We loved sitting by the log fire in the evenings and on the covered terrace for our cups of tea. It was great to have a pool and hot tub for relaxing. Although we are not fishermen we loved walking around the lake and seeing the wildlife. The gite is only a five minute drive to Rochchehouart so although it is situated in lovely countryside it is not remote. Our hosts were lovely and nothing was too much trouble.
