The whole property is typical of French construction in the area with very thick stone walls & small windows, making the interiors cool & comfortable in summer. The accommodation offers great privacy, being attached but offset to the rear of our home, with a private entrance & off-road car parking. The ground floor, including one ensuite bedroom, has also been designed to provide wheelchair access. 

To the rear of the property there is a south-facing, private covered deck with dining table and chairs, here you will also find the large gardens with pool & terrace and other amenities specifically for guest use.

All bed linens, bath, pool & tea towels are provided. Cot and highchair are available on request.

'The Gite accommodation' has many original features and has been thoughtfully furnished. It is a welcoming and spacious holiday home which can accommodate up to 10 guests in five bedrooms (3 doubles & 2 twins) plus three bathrooms. 

The accommodation comprises - on the ground floor: 

Large open plan lounge with separate dining & seating areas. The room has a large fireplace with woodburner, TV with freeview channels, free wifi and DVD player with numerous films

Kitchen Fully fitted with plenty of cupboard space and modern equipment including electric oven with grill, electric hob, microwave, dishwasher, toaster & kettle. All the necessary cooking utensils, crockery, cutlery & glasses are provided with plastic items for use in the pool area

Bathroom 1 is a small shower room adjacent to the kitchen with WC & wash hand basin, handy for use during the day and before & after swimming

Bedroom 1 is a cave-like double with air conditioning and good wheelchair access 

Bathroom 2 is a large ensuite to bedroom 1 with wet-room style shower, seating bench, low level wash hand basin, raised WC & handrails

moving to the first floor: (there are stair gates at both the top & bottom of the stairs)

Bedroom 2 is a lovely, spacious twin with velux window & air conditioning

Bedroom 3 has a comfortable four-poster bed & voile drapes. A light and airy room with french doors to a juliet balcony overlooking the lake

Bedroom 4 has twin single beds and a sliding door adjoining bedroom 5

Bedroom 5 is a double with a window overlooking the gardens. The adjoining door can be opened to make this and bedroom 4 a large family room if required

Bathroom 3 is modern & roomy with bath & overbath shower, wash hand basin & WC

The pool and sun terrace are situated in the gardens to the rear of the gite and house,

The rear door from the gite leads to a south-facing covered deck with large table & chairs perfect for outdoor dining.

The 8x4m, inground, heated swimming pool has a pergola at one end for shade and is next to the huge paved, terrace which is a real suntrap. 

The extensive pool terrace is fully equipped with another pergola, sun loungers, armchairs, drinks tables, a large dining table & chairs & brick-built, charcoal BBQ. 

An undercover relaxation area with comfortable settees also houses the hot tub, sauna and a drinks fridge. Table-tennis and other games equipment is provided in the pool area.

Adjacent to the pool area you will find a lots of grassed areas and a large field perfect for a picnic or a family game of rounders or cricket

The huge garden area to the rear of the gite and our house consists of the pool area, lawns & flower beds, various unusual trees and a fruit orchard & vegetable plot. Our resident ducks & hens wander freely here & love to be fed by our guests. There are also pet cats, guinea pigs, cockatiels, budgies & tortoises to see.

In the garden below the pool terrace is a large designated ball games area with football goal, also a badminton net and a swing. To entertain the children and some adults too!! we have a large climbing frame with more swings, a slide and a bridge which leads to the tree-house. 

Within the barn we have a cool games room with pool table, dartboard and table football.

Target Archery sessions, for guests from 6yrs upwards, with qualified instruction are available. 

Don't forget the lake is not just for anglers, it can be used for swimming or paddle boarding (equipment not provided) the path around the edge provides a lovely walk and is perfect for birdwatching and spotting wildlife such as salamanders, frogs, deer and herons.

There is plenty of room to explore & you may find lots of small wildlife including frogs, lizards, woodpeckers, kingfishers, cuckoos, golden orioles, red squirrels & many different lizards, insects & beetles. We also have occasional visits from deer, foxes, buzzards, black kites & hoopoes. The track from the house also leads directly into the forest of Rochechouart where there are many walking & cycling paths leading in all directions.
